Izzy Brown joined Leeds United on loan from Chelsea in the summer of 2018, while Patrick Bamford moved from Middlesbrough.

Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford has suggested to BBC Sport why fans should not be worried about lack of signings in the January transfer window.

The Championship club added just one new player to their squad last month, bringing in goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

According to BBC Sport, Leeds’s move for Swansea City youngster Daniel James fell through last month.

Leeds forward Bamford has suggested that fans should not be worried about the club not bringing in more than one new player and has explained why – the return to full fitness of him and his teammate Izzy Brown, who can operate as an attacking midfielder, forward or winger.

The 25-year-old told BBC Sport: “There are a lot of boys to come back and that can lift people. I saw the fans made a bit of a fuss that nobody was really brought in in January, but we’ve got players like me and Izzy (Brown) who have missed a lot of the season coming back in.”

Sensible remarks

Bamford joined Leeds from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018 for an initial transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £7 million.

The former Nottingham Forest forward has been injured for much of the season and has been able to play just 110 minutes in the Championship, scoring two goals and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.

Brown, signed on loan from Chelsea in the summer of 2018, has been injured since last January, and the 22-year-old will be an important player for Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the coming weeks and months.
