Wolverhampton Wanderers could complete the signing of Rui Patricio next week, according to The Express & Star.

It has been reported that Patricio has terminated his contract with Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon.

Wolves are reportedly in advanced talks with the 30-year-old Portugal international goalkeeper, who will represent his country at the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia this summer.

Coup for Wolves

If Wolves sign Patricio this summer, then it would be quite a coup for the newly-promoted Premier League club, given just how good he is and Napoli’s reported interest in him.

Gianlucadimarzio.com claimed in May that Italian club Napoli were looking at the Sporting star as a potential replacement for Pepe Reina, and the Naples-based outfit’s (reported) interest shows just how good Patricio is.

Oh, and Patricio also won the 2016 European Championship with Portugal.

Concern for John Ruddy?

The arrival of Patricio at Wolves would be a concern for John Ruddy, who is the first-choice goalkeeper at Wolves at the moment, having joined the Wanderers in the summer of 2017.

The 31-year-old former Norwich City star played in 45 Championship matches for the Wanderers this past campaign, as Nuno’s side won automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Patricio joining Nuno’s side would see Ruddy become the second-choice goalkeeper at Wolves.
