The Frenchman had a torrid time on his Manchester United debut in 2006.
Patrice Evra runs with the ball
West Ham are set to sign former Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra on a deal until the end of the season to help shore up their own defensive frailties.
The Frenchman, who has 81 caps for his nation, was a free agent after Marseille terminated his contract in wake of him performing a Cantona-like kick on one of his own fans before a Europa League game in November.

His arrival is one of an experienced operator who will hopefully help West Ham in their fight for Premier League survival under David Moyes.
It is not yet known when he might make his debut, but he will certainly hope it goes better than his last Premier League debut – which turned out to be a disaster.
After signing from Monaco in 2006 he was thrown in for his debut against Manchester City in a derby game. United lost that fixture 3-1 and Evra had a game to forget. He was targeted by long balls by a very different City to the one we have today and he struggled with the aerial competency needed to be a good full-back in England,. City’s right-winger that day Trevor Sinclair had a field day and Evra was hauled off at half-time.

It was a harsh but rewarding rude awakening for Evra who soon adapted and became one of the best foreign left-backs in Premier League history,
Hopefully he will have a better debut for West Ham though, when he gets his chance.
