Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka struggled again for Unai Emery’s side last night.

Patrice Evra has told Monday Night Football, which was broadcast on Sky Sports, that Arsenal legends have told him they are ‘fuming’ with Granit Xhaka being captain of the club.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery decided to name Xhaka as captain earlier this season, in what was a controversial call.

Xhaka has failed to convince supporters, and although the decision was put to a vote from the players, there are many fans at the Emirates Stadium who feel that the the wrong man is wearing their armband.

It seems that there are some Arsenal legends in agreement with those supporters.

And after Arsenal were beaten 1-0 by Sheffield United, Evra let rip at the Gunners.

The former Manchester United defender said: “I was happy to play against Arsenal, because I knew we were going to win. Guendouzi was playing in the second league in France and he’s the best player in the team.

“I know some legends who are fuming when they see that Xhaka is captain of Arsenal.”

Xhaka was ineffective for Arsenal again yesterday evening, as they were beaten at Bramall Lane.

Xhaka was far from the worst player in an Arsenal shirt, but his performance did little to silence the critics.

The Gunners’ latest defeat has only caused frustrations to rise, with Emery coming under increasing pressure now.

Arsenal are now in fifth place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming on Thursday evening against Vitoria in the Europa League.
