West Ham veteran Patrice Evra started against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

West Ham United defender Patrice Evra has posted a picture of his war wounds on Instagram from Saturday’s 4-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The 36-year-old veteran was handed his first start for the Hammers since joining David Moyes’ side on a free transfer to provide competition at left-back for Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku.

He lasted the entire 90 minutes as the Hammers failed to stop Liverpool from earning all three points, as Liverpool produced a repeat of the result that saw them win 4-1 at the London Stadium back in November.
Evra claimed he had three stitches to cover up a gash on his calf, before captioning the photo with his famous line “I love this game” as Liverpool’s front three ran riot on Merseyside.
Evra was a free agent before joining West Ham after lashing out at a fan prior to Marseille’s Europa League clash against Vitoria in November, as he kicked out a fan and was subsequently sacked by the French club.
Moyes decided to hand the former Monaco and Manchester United defender a return to the Premier League after working with the Frenchman at Old Trafford during his tumultuous period as manager.
It remains to be seen if Evra will be declared fit for the Hammers’ next outing, as they travel to Wales to face Carlos Carvalhal’s relegation-threatened Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
