Manchester United legend Patrice Evra has posted on Instagram ‘home sweet home’ to Wayne Rooney after Everton sacked Rafa Benitez as manager on Sunday.

Sky Sports’ Instagram page posted about the news, regarding Everton sacking Benitez, and Evra opted to leave a message for his former Man United teammate in the comments section.

The former left-back simply posted ‘@waynerooney, home sweet home’, as he clearly feels there is only one man for the job.

Rooney currently is the Derby County manager, where he has managed to drag a team who have been deducted 21 points this season, off the bottom of the table.

The fact that the Rams are managing to still stay in the fight for survival amid all the mess, chaos and lack of clarity Rooney has had to deal with is quite remarkable.

Added with the fact that Rooney is a boyhood Everton fan and he donned the colours of the club, it’s understandable why his name would be thrown straight into the hat for the vacant manager’s job on Merseyside.

In truth, Rooney is the exact type of name, figure and character Everton need in order to sort their mess out.

But England’s all-time leading goalscorer doesn’t seem to be the type to leave a club like Derby in the lurch midway through the season.

Duncan Ferguson has held the fort before for the Toffees and it perhaps would be wise to hand him the keys until the end of the season, before going for Rooney in the summer.

A lot of money has been thrown at this Everton team, yet they have become worse as a result of it.

A long term project is needed and someone like Rooney would fit the bill to get the club going again and help them move into their new stadium down the line.
