Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan played well for Scotland against Slovenia in the 2018 World Cup qualifier on Sunday.
Barry Bannan is one of the best players in the Championship and is a key figure in the current Sheffield Wednesday team.
The 27-year-old midfielder has been on the books of Wednesday since 2015, and the former Crystal Palace man has been instrumental in the Owls reaching the Championship playoffs for the past two seasons.
Bannan is also part of the Scotland set-up, and the former Aston Villa midfielder was in action for his national team on Sunday evening.
The midfielder started Scotland’s final 2018 World Cup qualifier against Slovenia away from home and played for the entire 90 minutes.
The Scots drew the game 2-2 and failed to book a spot in the World Cup playoffs.
Former Chelsea, Everton and Scotland international midfielder Pat Nevin was following the match for BBC Sport, and he was impressed with the performance of Bannan.
Midway through the second half, Nevin told BBC Sport (18:23): “Barry Bannan has been absolutely superb and is probably the best player on the pitch though. His touch has been brilliant.”
Bannan scored one goal and provided eight assists in 45 Championship matches for Wednesday during the 2016-17 season.
