The BBC 5 Live commentator was impressed by Leeds’ performance.
Pundit Pat Nevin
Leeds United picked up their second win in a week today, as they beat Cardiff City 2-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Chris Wood netted from the penalty spot, before a wonderful finish from Pablo Hernandez sealed all three points in what was a happy return to south Wales for the former Swansea City boss Garry Monk.
Last weekend former Leeds United’s poor performance as they lost to Huddersfield Town 1-0 in the West Yorkshire derby.
Since then Leeds have picked up six points and things are looking up.
One man who was impressed with how Leeds won the game was Pat Nevin.
Blackburn’s Danny Graham in action with Leeds’ Pontus Jansson
The former Chelsea and Everton winger was speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live and felt Leeds did well to win the game:
“Leeds toughed it out. They had to withstand some really good energy from Cardiff in the first 30 minutes.
“I thought that whoever got the first goal would go on and win quite comfortably, and that’s what happened.”
It was a fairly balanced game, with solid performances from Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson pivotal, but in the end Leeds deserved the win in this tight fixture.
Leeds are now moving up the table and look to have a solid base on which to build some consistent form.
Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the season.
