Everton and Newcastle United both spent big on strikers over the summer transfer window.

Everton's Moise Kean

Pat Nevin has told BBC Sport that Everton got a far better deal for Moise Kean than Newcastle United did for Joelinton.

The BBC claims that Everton paid under £30 million to snap up Kean from Juventus, while Newcastle spent £40 million to bring in Joelinton.

Both Joelinton and Kean are still both looking for their first goals in the Premier League.

But Nevin feels that Everton got a way better deal than Newcastle did.

Kevin said: “I can see this being the deal of the season. When I look at the players who have been bought, say like Joelinton at £40m to Newcastle, Kean is miles ahead and the price is cheaper.

“Kean is also much younger. I was staggered by the relatively low price Everton have paid and also thought an Arsenal or a Chelsea might try to get him as well.”

Everton have held Kean back so far, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin starting up-front.

Newcastle, on the other hand, have put Joelinton straight into their starting line-up.

Steve Bruce has immediately picked the Brazilian, but he has not impressed at this early stage of his time at St. James’ Park.

Everton take on Aston Villa this weekend, while Newcastle face Tottenham Hotspur, as both strikers aim to find the back of the net.
