Former NFL kicker and media personality Pat McAfee has shared his immediate reaction to the USMNT’s World Cup exit.
The USA have been eliminated from the World Cup after losing 4-1 to Belgium at the Seattle Seahawks’ Lumen Field.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team fell a long way short of pre-match expectations and never looked like they would win the game.
Having been tipped to reach the quarter-finals, or even further, the USMNT’s defeat has surprised many American fans.
Ex-Indianapolis Colts star Pat McAfee was left stunned by Belgium’s dominant display in the Round of 16.

What Pat McAfee said after the USMNT’s World Cup defeat to Belgium
Pat McAfee quickly realised that the United States players would be in for a difficult afternoon in Seattle.
Belgium assumed control of the match in the first half, scoring after nine minutes, and never looked back for the rest of the game.
The USMNT looked as though they were chasing shadows, as Belgium played the ball around them relatively easily.
Belgium’s performance inspired McAfee to ask on social media whether they are the “greatest soccer team of all time.”
He even described them as “monsters” after they outplayed the USMNT in every facet of the game for 90 minutes.
The unfortunate reality is that Belgium are not one of the best teams in the world and will be underdogs in the next round.
McAfee also suggested that his love of soccer has dwindled after the USMNT’s dream of winning the World Cup died.
“Man… Soccer was so much fun,” he tweeted, even though the latter stages of the tournament will take place over the next fortnight.
