Former Celtic star talks new signings and title chances.
Former Celtic star Pat Bonner has told The Evening Times he is unsure about Celtic’s new signings.
Celtic have added three players to their squad, all of who are unproven in Scottish football.
Oliver Burke, 21, and Timothy Weah, 18, have joined on loan, with Vakoun Issouf Bayo, 22, signing permanently.
Celtic are targeting potential and want youth on their side, but Bonner says the inexperience is a concern.
He said: “I’m not sure about the signings so far. We’re talking about young boys, after all, which appears to be the club policy.”
Bonner went onto lament the lack of additions in defence so far, which the club are currently trying to still address.
Bonner says that despite his reservations, he believes Celtic will go on to win the title.
Rangers drew level on points after the recent Old Firm win, although Celtic have a game in hand.
The former Celtic and Ireland goalkeeper says that the break came at the right time, and he likes their upcoming fixture list compared to Rangers’.
Bonner said: “The League Cup is already in the bag and I still think that they’ll probably win the league because the winter break came at the right time for them,” he claimed.
“It’s given them the chance to step away for a bit and refresh themselves and their first four matches once they come back are all winnable ones at Parkhead while Rangers are away to Kilmarnock, Livingston and Aberdeen during that period.”
