Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic failed to win against St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Friday.
Olivier Ntcham is one of the best and most important players for Celtic, but the former Manchester City prospect did not have a great time on Friday evening.
The 22-year-old midfielder started for Celtic in their Scottish Premiership game agains St. Mirren away from home.
The Frenchman was expected to play a major role for Brendan Rodgers’s side, but the youngster was sent off for two bookable offences in the 37th minute.
Celtic failed to win against St. Mirren and played out a goalless draw with their Scottish Premiership rivals.
Pat Bonner was following the match, and the Celtic legend and former Republic of Ireland international has slammed Ntcham.
Former Rangers and St. Mirren striker Steven Thompson has also criticised Ntcham – who joined Celtic from Manchester City in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £4.5 million.
Bonner told BBC Sport (20:24): “It’s a silly, silly tackle. It is stupidity. He knows he has been booked, and it is in St Mirren’s half. He doesn’t have to go into that tackle.”
Thompson told BBC Sport (20:25): “Absolute madness. When you are on a booking, you know you don’t lunge into tackles.
“It’s almost as if he was on a death wish to get sent off. You don’t go for the ball in that type of manner when you are on a booking.”
