‘Passionate fans’: Some Liverpool fans want 41-year-old to replace Bruce at Newcastle

Liverpool fans would like to see Rangers boss Steven Gerrard replacing Steve Bruce at Newcastle amid rumours.

The international break is usually a quiet one, but it has been dominated by the news of a Saudi-led group taking ownership of Newcastle United from Mike Ashley.

It has instantly put Bruce’s job under threat and a certain Liverpool legend, thriving at Rangers, has been one of a number of names now touted to take that big-money hotseat.

The Daily Mail have claimed that Gerrard is ‘intrigued’ by the Newcastle project and it’s likely that the current campaign will be his final one at Ibrox.

Liverpool fans think their club legend should make that move because they feel it will be a step up in the 41-year-old’s career.

Ever since Gerrard took charge in Glasgow, one thing that has always been thrown about is him replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool one day.

And him taking a job in the Premier League would certainly push him further towards that target, which was pointed out by the Liverpool faithful.

But Liverpool do need to be careful because if Newcastle can get their engine going then they will start threatening to those towards the top.

It’s not going to happen any time soon, because this is a long-term project with a number of bumpy roads along the way.

But Manchester City and Chelsea are prime examples as to what can happen if an owner is willing to throw a big wad of cash at the club – and seemingly have no end.
