Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Aaron Cresswell has waxed-lyrical about Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.
The West Ham man was playing a game where he had to build his ultimate teammate based on a number of different attributes, and when it came to who he thought was the best defender, he didn’t hesitate when choosing van Dijk.
“I think you’ve got to say van Dijk haven’t you. Obviously this season he’s been really unlucky with injuries, but he’s another one who’s got absolutely everything. Passing, strength, pace, the ability to head the ball, to bring it down and play little five or 10 yard passes to the right or left of him,” Cresswell said.

Cresswell isn’t telling us anything we don’t already know.
There’s no such thing as the perfect footballer, but van Dijk is pretty close to fitting that billing.
As the Hammers ace says, he’s got absolutely everything. He’s great with the ball, he’s rapid and he’s amongst the strongest players in the world.
Add into that the fact that he has immense aerial ability as well and you have all the ingredients to make a world-class centre-back.
We can only hope that the Dutchman is back fit and firing sooner rather than later.
