Pascal Siakam found himself balancing club loyalty and national pride during a lighthearted NBA All-Star locker room exchange.

The Indiana Pacers forward was asked about Cameroonian football legend Samuel Eto’o, prompting both praise and playful rivalry. The moment became even more notable with Luka Doncic standing nearby.

What followed blended respect for Barcelona success with an open declaration of Real Madrid support.

Nikola Jokic sparks Samuel Eto’o debate

Nikola Jokic began the exchange by asking Siakam what he knew about Samuel Eto’o. The question immediately drew a proud response from the Cameroonian forward.

Siakam made it clear he was ready to speak about one of his country’s greatest athletes. Jokic then asked where Eto’o played his best football, which prompted Siakam’s blunt response.

“Come on, man. Don’t do that. That’s my Cameroonian guy. Same country! Where did he play the best? I mean, it was Barcelona. But f— Barcelona, I’m a Real Madrid fan. We’re good over here.”

Real Madrid allegiance revealed near Luka Doncic

Siakam’s admission carried added context with Luka Doncic within earshot during the exchange. Doncic began his professional career with Real Madrid before transitioning to the NBA.

Eto’o enjoyed the most successful period of his career at Barcelona, winning multiple major trophies and establishing himself as one of the club’s standout forwards.

He previously had a brief spell with Real Madrid, but it did not produce the same level of impact before he later thrived at Barcelona.

Recognizing Barcelona as Eto’o’s peak while declaring loyalty to Madrid underscored the playful rivalry at the center of the conversation. The history between the two Spanish clubs added another layer to the moment.

Siakam ultimately managed to celebrate a Cameroonian icon while remaining loyal to his preferred club. The exchange became one of the more entertaining side stories from All-Star weekend.</
