Tottenham return to the Champions League for the first time since March 2020 on Wednesday night, as they play host to French side Marseille in North London – and Pascal Chimbonda has predicted a home win against Igor Tudor’s side.
Spurs have been handed a favourable draw in the group stages. They face Marseille, who finished second in Ligue 1. They also take on Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt and Portuguese outlet Sporting Lisbon at this stage.
It comes after a wonderful start to the season. Four wins from six Premier League games, remaining unbeaten. In that time, they have kept two clean sheets and scored 12 goals. Antonio Conte has got his Spurs side playing at 100%.
Rotation came against Fulham. Richarlison, Ryan Sessegnon and Clement Lenglet started. So, that might mean the return of Dejan Kulusevski, Ivan Perisic and Ben Davies. There might be further rotation of other unrested players.
Perhaps Son Heung-min, a midfielder and Emerson Royal could drop out. It will be interesting to see Conte’s side come Wednesday night. But ex-Spurs defender Chimbonda is confident of a win, telling Spurs Web his old side will win 2-0.

Spurs need to continue their good form and get off to a winning start. Conte’s side have been boosted by Marseille having Alexis Sanchez suspended – a player that played under Conte at Inter. They have to take control of the group.
A commanding win would do that – especially if Conte makes a few changes. Emerson could do with a rest, with Matt Doherty and Djed Spence able to replace him. One of Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could be rested.
But Chimbonda’s prediction looks more than likely as Tottenham look to secure a first Champions League win since November 2019 – which came in a 4-2 win over Olympiacos under Jose Mourinho.
