Tottenham have announced the signing of Richarlison on a permanent basis from Everton, signing a contract until the summer of 2027 – prompting Pascal Chimbonda to react on Instagram with a six-word verdict.
Richarlison becomes Tottenham’s fourth signing of the summer, after deals for Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma. A fee is believed to be £50million up front for Richarlison, and £10million more in add-ons.

It comes after four years with Everton, in which he clocked up 53 goals in 152 Everton appearances. Last season, he was involved in 15 goals for the Toffees in just 30 league games – more than a third of Everton’s overall goals.
Little surprise plenty of clubs were looking to sign Richarlison – and Spurs have won the race. Tottenham confirmed the news of his arrival on Friday morning, and ex-Spurs defender Chimbonda reacted with a six-word verdict.

What a signing this is for Tottenham. But many pundits and fans have asked – where will he fit in at Spurs? Firstly, Spurs are fighting on four fronts – and not just the Conference League or Europa League, the Champions League.
Rotation is necessary, but they will need undenied quality in all areas. Richarlison finally sees Tottenham bring in competition and cover for Harry Kane, but the likelihood is that Richarlison starts on the right.
Dejan Kulusevski has been superb since joining but Richarlison brings a bit more nastiness, a bit more Premier League know how. Kulusevski will not suffer, given the amount of games, in terms of his development.
