Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has shared what Jose Mourinho has been gutted about after leaving Tottenham.

Castles is known for often having the inside scoop on all things concerning Jose Mourinho, and he claims that Mourinho isn’t happy about not getting the chance to end Spurs’ long trophy drought.

“He targeted the Europa League, which ended in one of the worst results of his career. He targeted the League Cup, and that’s the one that is particularly painful for him, that he’s been prevented from having the opportunity to end Tottenham’s 13-year trophy drought having got Tottenham to the cup final against Manchester City at the weekend.” Castles said.

To be fair, we can understand why Mourinho is gutted about this.

He’s put a lot of work in this season in the Carabao Cup and just as he’s approaching the final he’s relieved of his duties.

Mourinho may have been the best man for the job this weekend as well. His record in cup finals speaks for itself, and he’s already beaten Manchester City once this season.

The gaffer has every reason to be devastated by the timing of his sacking, but it can’t have come as much of a shock after his poor results in recent months.
