Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka have taken to Instagram ahead of Arsenal’s Sunday evening clash with Aston Villa at the Emirates.
Whilst Partey is a definite starter for Mikel Arteta, it will be interesting to see if he pushes Xhaka into the starting XI given that he was on the bench for Arsenal’s 1-0 win at Manchester United last week.
Xhaka did start for the Gunners during their quite comprehensive win against Molde in the Europa League, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Arteta names an unchanged XI from their last league fixture.
Xhaka posted this Instagram message to the Arsenal fans on social media where he stated: ‘Batteries charged and ready for action’.
Whilst summer signing Partey wrote on his own Instagram page: ‘Another day at the office’.
Everything Arsenal fans knew Partey was going to bring from Atletico Madrid is everything he is showcasing during these early stages of his career at the Emirates.
His performance at Old Trafford last time out has not been matched by many Arsenal midfield players for many, many years, so the positive vibes from the supporters are pretty high.
The key now is for a player like Partey to continue that early charge, for players to bounce off his performances and for individuals, such as the experienced Xhaka to produce the goods from the bench if called upon.
