Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to discuss LOSC Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare, a player they were targeting back in the summer.

Foot Mercato revealed back in August that the Gunners were in the running to sign the France Under-21 international, and had been following the 21-year-old for a ‘little while’.

Now, despite the signing of Thomas Partey, a number of Arsenal fans on Twitter have been chatting about Soumare with a few in favour of signing him.

The Noisy-le-Sec-born prospect – an international teammate of Matteo Guendouzi – is enjoying himself at Lille, where he’s made ten appearances in all competitions this season.

Soumare was the subject of a £35 million bid from Newcastle back in January, and it’s no surprise to see Premier League outfits interested in him.

Foot Mercato‘s report also stated that Manchester United were keen on signing him.

If Mikel Arteta managed to bring Soumare to the Emirates, then he and Partey would form a brilliant defensive-midfield base for the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to thrive up-top.

His price tag is unknown, although Newcastle’s £35 million bid was actually accepted – the Frenchman just didn’t want to leave at that time, according to the BBC.

However, months on from that window, Soumare’s value may presumably have increased.

Let’s see what the Arsenal fans have been saying about him…
