‘Part of the job description’: Manager sends message to his player amid Liverpool transfer claims

Liverpool have been linked with Christian Pulisic, but Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel’s comments today, as quoted in Goal.com, suggest that the attacker will not leave.

The Daily Mail reported this week interest from Liverpool and Manchester United in signing Pulisic from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer of 2021.

The 22-year-old, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, has been struggling for playing time under new Chelsea manager Tuchel.

However, Tuchel has made it clear that the 22-year-old USA international is very much in his plans for this season and beyond.

The Chelsea boss has added that Pulisic works hard in training like the rest of his teammates.

Goal.com quotes Tuchel as saying about Pulisic: “If he starts tomorrow, if he does brilliantly and if he starts against Atletico and if he scores two goals, then maybe he is the captain next season. I know what you mean but this is too far ahead.

“We have so many games and he is in my plans. He is an important player and has the potential to be decisive for us off the bench.

“His job is to be ready like everybody else and when the moment comes, he has to be ready. This is what you sign up for at a club like Chelsea. There is no difference between Christian or anybody else.

“When you sign and play for Chelsea, it is part of the job description of a player to be impatient and patient at the same time. Impatient because all of my players are competitors and want to play every single minute, and this is what they all show every day, the hunger and the desire. This is what Christian shows.”

Unlikely Liverpool transfer?

Chelsea paid £57.6 million in transfer fees to sign Pulisic, as reported by Sky Sports, and it is unlikely that the Blues will sell him at the end of the season.

The former Premier League champions are very likely to persevere with him for a while instead of giving up on him.

Moreover, the Blues may not be willing to sell such a talented young player to a direct rival such as Liverpool.

According to WhoScored, the USA international has made nine starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League and has made two starts and two substitute appearances in the Champions League for Chelsea so far this season.
