Ray Parlour gave his take on Willian on talkSPORT (5:40pm, March 1, 2021) following his performance for Arsenal against Leicester City at the weekend.
Willian, who joined Arsenal in the summer of 2020 after leaving Chelsea at the end of last season, has not been in great form this season.
However, the Brazilian winger turned on the style on Sunday, as he helped Arsenal to a 3-1 victory over Leicester away from home at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League.
The 32-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, provided an assist and was brilliant from set pieces.
Former Arsenal star Parlour was impressed by Willian’s performance, and he believes that his confidence could have been affected by reading what has been written about him.
Parlour said about Willian on talkSPORT (5:40pm, March 1, 2021): “He was really good yesterday. Every time he got the ball, he was positive, set the goal up for David Luiz.”
The Englishman added: “Every time he wanted the ball, it looked like he was on the free kicks, it looked like he was on the corners, and that’s the guy, maybe he has got a little bit more confidence in himself because you do lose confidence at times when you are not playing, maybe he is reading paper reports saying he has not been the same player at Chelsea.”

Optimism for Arsenal fans
Willian played well against Benfica in the Europa League last week, and his performance against Leicester was laudable as well.
Perhaps the winger is starting to get back to his best, and maybe in the coming weeks, Arsenal fans will see more of the player who was a star at Chelsea.
According to WhoScored, the 32-year-old has provided four assists in 19 Premier League matches and has provided one assist in five Europa League games for Arsenal so far this season.
