Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after Roy Hodgson spoke about Said Benrahma in his press conference on Friday.
Football London quote the ex-England boss as saying: ‘The bottom line is, there isn’t any real dialogue between us and Brentford at the moment.
‘I’ve got no idea what Brentford are thinking, and it would be stupid of me to say he’s not a good player. But we’ve signed Eze to strengthen us in that area, we’ve got Schlupp, Townsend and Meyer in that position as well.’
Judging by these comments, it doesn’t sound as if anything is particularly close, although it feels unlikely that Hodgson would go shouting from the rooftops even if it was.
The Evening Standard reported back in the middle of September that talks were underway between Crystal Palace and Brentford for the Algerian’s services.
Their report said that the winger would cost £25 million if the south Londoners pushed ahead with the move.

Hodgson’s comments come after Benrahma scored two goals on his first start of the campaign against Fulham on Thursday evening.
One of which was a sublime effort, in which the 25-year-old nutmegged Michael Hector before curling a shot into the bottom right corner.
Brentford’s No.10 was carrying on his fine form from last season, where he was responsible for 17 goals and ten assists as the Bees reached the Play-Off final.

Such incredible goalscoring numbers have understandably led to Premier League interest in his services, and Crystal Palace have until October 16th to complete this deal due to the extended domestic deadline.
Let’s see what the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have said about Hodgson’s comments…
