Pardew should raid Newcastle for Aarons, gave him 2014 debut

Alan Pardew has taken over at West Brom and could raid former side Newcastle.

West Bromwich Albion’s new manager Alan Pardew will be desperate to bring in some new talent at the Hawthorns in January to steer the Baggies clear of relegation, and that could see him raid former side Newcastle.

The Midlands outfit sit perilously close to the relegation zone in 17th place, with just two points separating Pardew’s new side and 18th-placed West Ham. His lacklustre side have managed just 12 goals in 14 league outings.

It is as clear as day to West Brom fans that more attacking tenacity is needed in the final third, especially out wide. Oliver Burke is just returning from injury, while Nacer Chadli has suffered a muscle problem and is likely to be out for a considerable amount of time.

Ireland international James McClean’s form is also way below par, and he has failed to score or provide an assist in 13 outings for the Baggies while Matt Phillips has managed one Premier League goal this season.

Pardew needs to add a player to his side that he can trust, one that can add a bit of unpredictability to a side that are – at the moment – easy to defend against. It should turn his attention to that of Rolando Aarons at Newcastle.

The 22-year-old is likely to have huge admiration for Pardew, after he was given his Newcastle debut by the former Crystal Palace and West Ham United manager back in August 2014.

Recovering from a long-term knee injury during the summer, Aarons has begun to feature in Newcastle’s starting eleven and has been one of the Toon’s shining lights amid a run of four defeats and a draw to the Baggies on Tuesday night.

Aarons boasts bags of speed and pace, as well as an eye for goal that has seen him score twice as a teenager in the Premier League. Although he has made just 16 appearances in England’s top flight, he possesses more than enough quality to make a difference.

Under the stewardship of Pardew, Aarons would reach the summit of his potential and could be the key in steering West Brom away from the bottom three come May 2018.
