Alan Pardew shares what he told West Brom players at half-time against Burnley

Burnley were too good for West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns yesterday.

West Brom manager Alan Pardew addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s 2-1 defeat to Burnley at the Hawthorns yesterday, and shared what he told his players during the half-time interval, as quoted by the Express & Star:

The Baggies are now all but relegated, and currently sit firmly rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, 10 points adrift of safety, with just six games remaining with which to save themselves.

West Brom have managed just three Premier League wins all season long, and just one since Alan Pardew took over way back in November last year.

The 56-year-old admitted that his side were nowhere near good enough in the first-half against Sean Dyche’s well-drilled Clarets side, and shared what he told his players during the half-time break, as quoted by the Express & Star:

“We said ‘let’s have a go at it’ and at least we did that. I had to change the shape,” he said. “I wanted to go with four sound defenders for that particular second half. I think a few of the players took that on board actually. I almost challenged them to go man for man and match them up and say come on then.”

Next up for the Baggies is a home game against 15th placed Swansea City next weekend, and they really do have to win that match, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of avoiding the drop this term.
