West Bromwich Albion are currently embroiled in a relegation scrap.

Alan Pardew is seen in the stands prior to the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on March 12, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Newly-appointed Baggies boss Alan Pardew sat down and addressed the media today, and responded to a question asking him whether he has plans on strengthening his squad during the January transfer window, as quoted by the Express & Star.

West Brom are currently sitting precariously in 16th position in the table, just two points clear of the relegation zone, and Pardew will certainly have his work cut-out, if he is to emulate last season’s 10th placed finish in the Premier League.

The Black Country outfit currently have one of the oldest and smallest squads in the division, so it will surely be of paramount importance to Pardew to add some new faces to his group during the January transfer window.

Alan Pardew, Manager of Crystal Palace looks on during the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Chelsea at Selhurst Park on December 17, 2016 in London, England.

The Baggies undoubtedly need an injection of youth and freshness, although it will be hard to attract the required quality next month, especially if they remain in the position they currently find themselves in.

And Pardew responded to reporters today when asked if he plans to add to his West Brom squad in January, as quoted by the Express & Star:

Alan Pardew manager of Crystal Palace looks on priorto the Premier League match between Everton and Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on September 30, 2016 in Liverpool, England.

“I think this squad is good enough to stay up, but with the clubs involved at the bottom, they will do business, so we have to try and grow as much as we can in January. We could also lose key players, so we will need to be on our guard if we have to replace them.”

The 56-year-old’s first task in charge of West Brom will be a home game against his former club Crystal Palace on Saturday, and three points would be a fantastic way to begin his reign at the Hawthorns.
