West Bromwich Albion are reportedly keen on signing the Watford ace.
Baggies boss Alan Pardew addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s FA Cup fourth round clash with Liverpool at Anfield tomorrow, and responded when asked whether he would consider a swap deal involving Hornets hitman Troy Deeney and Salomon Rondon, as quoted by the Daily Star.
Pardew will be desperate to bolster his ranks at the Hawthorns between now and the end of the transfer window, with his side currently sitting in 19th position in the Premier League table, three points adrift of safety.
They have a respite from Premier League action this week, however, as their attention turns to the FA Cup, and it might be a welcome break from the pressure of league action for West Brom.
The club’s hierarchy are surely still working behind the scenes with transfers, however,
Pardew spoke to reporters today, and responded to a question asking him if he would consider a swap deal involving Deeney and Rondon, as quoted by the Daily Star:
“There’s no chance. Maybe I shouldn’t say that after what happened to me with Andy Carroll at Newcastle. Rondon has been absolutely brilliant since I came here. He’s been playing some terrific football without the goals he should have had. He has shown what leadership and quality he has. Salomon is not part of any deal.”
Despite Pardew’s words, things can change quickly in football, and with just five days remaining until the transfer window slams shut, this will still be one for Baggies and Hornets fans to keep a close eye on.
