Fabio Paratici is hoping that Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini will immediately challenge to be Tottenham Hotspur’s number 1.
That’s according to The Guardian, who report that Gollini is set to join Tottenham on loan with a view to a £13million permanent move in 2022.
Tottenham have been linked with an outrageous number of Serie A players, but this one now looks like it has a semblance of truth to it.
The report intriguingly states that Paratici isn’t just viewing Gollini as a backup to Hugo Lloris.
No, Paratici thinks that Gollini can immediately come in and challenge Lloris for the first-choice job in Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.
That’s a pretty bold idea to say the least.
Lloris has pretty much been Tottenham’s undoubted first-choice goalkeeper for almost 10 years now, having joined the club Lyon way back in 2012.

The Frenchman isn’t getting any younger and turns 35 later this year, meaning Tottenham do need to start thinking about the future.
Gollini has had stints in England before with Manchester United and Aston Villa, but didn’t really thrive with either club, so expecting him to immediately shine in the Premier League could be a little much.
Lloris will surely head into the season as first-choice, but he will now have somebody breathing right down his neck in Gollini.
