Clement Lenglet to Tottenham Hotspur appears to be moving along very nicely indeed.
Sport in Spain reported this week that Spurs had made contact over signing Clement Lenglet of Barcelona, but so had Arsenal among other Premier League outfits.
Tottenham absolutely need central-defensive reinforcements this summer.
And the French powerhouse appears to be a main target.
According to Catalan publication Esport today, the Camp Nou are in talks with the Lilywhites about agreeing the terms of a two-year loan to Antonio Conte’s side.
The report adds that Xavi has told a number of Barcelona players that they aren’t needed and that Lenglet has been the most ‘receptive’ toward leaving.
Another masterstroke by Fabio Paratici
On Wednesday, HITC Sport wrote about Spurs’ deal to sign Ivan Perisic was a masterstroke by Paratici.
And this, if it materialises, would be yet another.
It’s well known Tottenham received a £150 million injection of funds from ENIC this summer [Bloomberg], after qualifying for the Champions League.
And if they sign Lenglet, on a two-year loan, then that’s a big chunk of that above figure spared, just like when the Lilywhites signed Perisic for free.
By focusing on medium-term loans, like the Kulusevski one, Paratici is saving money for him and Conte to spend for the now and that’s a solid strategy to improve the Tottenham squad.
