Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Antonio Rudiger, but there just seems to be absolutely no way he would leave Chelsea for Spurs.

Tottenham hosted Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon – and were found wanting.

Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante and Rudiger grabbed the goals to give Chelsea a comfortable 3-0 win.

Tottenham just couldn’t get close to Chelsea in the second half, and certainly couldn’t test Rudiger and co at the back.

Tottenham’s interest in Rudiger

Jose Mourinho wanted to bring Rudiger to Tottenham last year, but he chose to stay at Chelsea.

That decision paid dividends. Frank Lampard may not have been a huge Rudiger fan, but Thomas Tuchel is, making him a key part of his Chelsea team.

90Min recently claimed that Tottenham would still like to sign Rudiger.

Rudiger’s contract expires at the end of the season, meaning he could walk away for nothing – hardly ideal after Chelsea paid £34million for him.

Rudiger has taken his game to another level, with Graeme Souness believing he has now become something of a ‘bully’ with a more aggressive style of play.

Tottenham surely have no hope

Sunday’s game summed up why Tottenham just have no hope of signing Rudiger.

Chelsea are streets ahead of Tottenham right now. When Tottenham were on top of their game, they couldn’t score. When Chelsea found another gear, the game was done.

Rudiger won the Champions League with Chelsea and could win the Premier League. Why would Rudiger trade that in for Tottenham, who look somewhat directionless?

If Rudiger snubbed Tottenham a year ago, there is surely no way he would accept now. He has a bigger role at Chelsea and, even if he was to go, he would have bigger interest than Tottenham.

Fabio Paratici may well fancy signing Rudiger, but a pursuit would be a waste of time with the German surely out of reach now.
