Well, it’s looking like the end for Erik Lamela at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Argentina international joined Spurs for £30 million in 2013, as part of the rebuilding process after selling Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.
And the former Roma winger has established himself as a cult figure for Tottenham over the past eight years.
He has been by no means the Lilywhites’ best or most consistent player, but his work ethic, energy, ability to wind up opponents – especially Arsenal players – and penchant for a rabona has made him a very popular player among some fans of the North London club.
But new man Fabio Paratici is using Lamela as a makeweight in the £21 million deal to sign Bryan Gil from Sevilla.
According to Alasdair Gold, who exclusively covers the club for Football London, Lamela still loves Tottenham and needed a lot of convincing to agree to move to Spain.

Right choice

Given that he is an attacking player, Lamela hasn’t contributed enough and you can’t fault Paratici for wanting to move him on.
That being said, it would be remiss to ignore the mountain of injury issues that have plagued the South American since joining under Andre Villas-Boas.
He missed a full year of football between the year 2016 and 2017 due to a hip injury, while there’s been a litany of other ailments which hasn’t done him any favours.
If and when he goes, he’ll be fondly remembered for the most part. He always played for the crest on the front of the shirt and that’s why the name on the back will be remembered.
