Some Tottenham fans on social media have been reacting after they were remarkably linked with a move for Raphael Varane by Duncan Castles on the Transfer Window Podcast.
Castles himself even said that this transfer sounds extremely strange, and it seems as though fans on social media agree.
Indeed, a number of supporters were refusing to believe this rumour, stating that it’s an outlandish attempt by Fabio Paratici to land a marquee signing.
One fan said that it was ridiculous, while another branded it as embarrassing.
To be fair, it’s hard to see Varane accepting a move to Spurs when they’re not in the Champions League and Harry Kane looks set to leave, and after already being rejected by Jules Kounde, another rejection wouldn’t look good.
However, as some Spurs fans pointed out, the London club do have numerous French players and an ex-Real Madrid player in Sergio Reguilon who could help convince Varane to join.
What happens with Varane remains to be seen, but Spurs supporters certainly aren’t confident of him joining.
