Ousmane Dembele is about to turn Fabio Paratici’s dream into a nightmare, as Sport claim the reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target will now sign a new contract at Barcelona.

The Blaugrana have been relentlessly targeting new terms for the winger, with his current deal set to expire in June. But the Camp Nou hierarchy have faced difficulties in agreeing to terms, given the La Liga giants’ troubled financial situation.

Additionally, Dembele’s camp have been non-committal toward extending his spell at the club in favour of enjoying a new adventure. But the Frenchman has now given the green light and could put pen to paper as early as next week.

Dembele has even agreed to lower his current salary to extend his stay with Barcelona past the five-year mark. He joined the club from Borussia Dortmund for an initial £97m in 2017.

Remaining at the Camp Nou is his personal priority and will sign on for another five-years. The backing Xavi Hernandez has shown since returning to Catalunya as manager has also helped to smooth out any hiccups.

Dembele to turn Paratici’s Tottenham transfer dream into a nightmare

Dembele deciding to sign a new contract at Barcelona worth less than his current €10m-a-year (£162k-a/w) deal will also turn Paratici’s Tottenham transfer dream into a nightmare.

Reports by TuttoMercatoWEB claim the winger is Spurs’ Managing Director’s ‘dream’ goal to strengthen Antonio Conte’s squad. He is determined to add another option the Italian can play alongside Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son in north London.

Paratici has also held regular contact with Dembele’s representative to discuss a transfer to Tottenham in case he leaves Barcelona. But a move to England is now likely off the table.
