According to Gerard Romero, Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer to sign Memphis Depay from Barcelona.
The Dutch winger could be headed to north London, and if he does join, Fabio Paratici could be about to right one of Spurs’ biggest wrongs of recent years – not signing Jack Grealish.
We all know the story by now, Spurs were on the verge of signing Grealish back in 2018. He even waved goodbye to the Aston Villa fans as he believed he was headed to north London.
However, due to late complications, the deal was never completed, and Spurs missed out on a truly exceptional player.
Interestingly though, despite going for Grealish in 2018, Spurs have never signed a player in his mould since. A tricky winger who can single-handedly run a game with their technique with the ability to cut-in from the left.

However, Depay could now fill that role.
The Dutchman is exactly what we’ve just described. He’s incredibly skilful and his right-foot is an incredibly effective weapon off of that left side.
In fact, Depay has even been compared to Grealish in the past, so you can see why Spurs want him after pursuing the former Aston Villa man for so long.
To make this move even more sweeter, Depay is another ‘one that got away’ for Tottenham, with the Dutchman even admitting that he rejected Spurs in 2015.
Spurs could right two wrongs by finally signing Depay, they can get their Grealish-esque figure they’ve been looking for for so long, and they can also finally land Depay seven years after initially moving for him.
