Tottenham Hotspur could miss out on both Memphis Depay and Alessio Romagnoli, with reports saying the Dutchman and the Italian may be heading to Barcelona instead during the summer transfer window.
When Juventus slapped a mouth-watering contract into Memphis Depay’s lap, Barcelona must have feared that history was about to repeat itself.
The Catalan kings were pipped to the post by Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month when Gini Wijnaldum, a long-term transfer target for Ronald Koeman, opted to take a bigger offer at the Parc des Princes instead.
And, according to Mundo Deportivo, Juventus are looking to take a leaf out of PSG’s book, offering Depay a deal worth £2.5 million more per season than he would get at the Camp Nou.
Fortunately for Barcelona, one of the most high-profile free agents on the market dreams in blue and red rather than black and white.
The La Liga giants remain confident of winning the race for Depay’s signature; their decision to retain the winger’s former Holland boss for another season doing their chances no harm.
No Depay or Romagnoli for Fabio Paratici’s Tottenham?
It is not just Juventus who will be disappointed if, or when, Depay is unveiled in Catalonia.
FC Inter News reported earlier in June that Tottenham were also interested in the one-time Manchester United flop.

But it seems that Depay, along with AC Milan defender Alessio Romangoli, may be plying his trade alongside Lionel Messi and co next season instead.
Just 24 hours after Spurs were linked with a £17 million-rated, contract-rebel centre-back, reports from Italy say that Romagnoli is negotiating a deal that will see him join Barcelona as part of a swap with Junior Firpo.
Paratici was used to getting what he wanted in Turin. At Tottenham, however, life could be very different.
