Paolo Di Canio told Sky Sport Italia on Tuesday – as per Football Italia – that Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is capable of a “howler”, once every four or five games. He was speaking ahead of Liverpool facing Inter on Wednesday.

The second-placed Premier League side go up against the team sitting second in Serie A, at the moment. Simone Inzaghi has taken over from Antonio Conte and done superbly, with Inter only a point behind Milan.

They also boast a game in hand. In the Champions League, Inter were solid enough to qualify from their group – winning three of six and nabbing 10 points in total. Alisson will start for the Reds on Wednesday night in Italy.

Speaking ahead of the match between Inter and Liverpool, Premier League icon and Italy legend Di Canio pinpointed £150k-a-week (Spotrac) Reds ace Alisson as a weakness for Inter to target – saying he be guilty of a howler.

“Even then, Alisson performs heroics in goal, but every four or five games he has a bit of a howler. Liverpool have weak points, every team does,” Di Canio told Sky Sport Italia, as quoted on Tuesday evening by Football Italia.

Di Canio on Alisson: Analysis is harsh on Liverpool goalkeeper

The Brazil international is probably the best goalkeeper in the Premier League – a yard ahead of Brazil teammate and Manchester City shot stopper Ederson. Alisson is first choice for Brazil, but only just.

He bails Liverpool out on numerous occasions. The ex-Roma man’s display against Burnley last weekend was superb – keeping his 15th clean sheet in 29 games this season. Di Canio is being somewhat harsh.

To say he makes a “howler” every four or five games is somewhat exaggerated. Yes, Alisson does make mistakes – but not as often as that. Indeed, he is much more consistent – and not a Liverpool weakness.
