It is still early in the new season, but Orlando Magic’s start has not inspired much excitement.
This summer, Orlando made a bold move by acquiring Desmond Bane, signalling their intentions to compete for a title.
But things have not gone according to plan so far, with the Magic starting off 3-5.
Paolo Banchero was expected to take another step forward this year and establish himself as one of the league’s top players, but he has not looked quite right so far.
Draymond Green questions Paolo Banchero’s go-to move

Banchero’s shooting has not been up to scratch during Orlando’s early struggles, and it has made him a target for criticism.
The Magic need more from him if they are going to stay in the mix in the East. First Carmelo Anthony spoke out, and now Draymond Green has weighed in.
“These are the things I would be talking about to help Paolo with his development. What is your go-to shot? If you are going to be a go-to scorer in this league, you have to have a go-to. And what is that to Paolo,” he began by saying on The Draymond Green Show.
“It’s not that he can’t be, is he given the proper path? Who’s sharing with him that he needs a go-to shot.
“You look at these teams and they don’t have a vet like that. They don’t have veteran leadership. Those things go beyond just coaching.
“I think Paolo is a casualty to that.
“Who’s helping him grow from that veteran standpoint? I completely disagree with people who say Paolo can’t play the type of basketball to help win, I just don’t think he is playing the right brand of basketball right now, but you can 1,000% build a winning team around Paolo.”
Desmond Bane trade is not helping the Magic right now
Orlando’s decision to bring in Bane has not paid off yet, and if things do not turn around soon, it could go down as one of their worst moves.
The Magic picked up Bane from the Grizzlies in exchange for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, and four first-round picks.
Four first-rounders is a big gamble for anyone, especially when the returns are this underwhelming so far.
Bane has struggled alongside his new teammates. His numbers are down across the board this season, posting 13.9 points per game on just 41.4 percent shooting from the field and 28.6 percent from beyond the arc – both career lows.
