Tottenham Hotspur are pursuing Nice midfielder Vincent Marcel.
Palermo owner Maurizio Zamparini has told Mediagol that he is struggling to compete with Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Nice midfielder Vincent Marcel.
Palermo suffered relegation from Serie A last season, and must now look to rebuild again after years of managerial ins and outs under Zamparini.
Gone are the days of players such as Simon Kjaer, Javier Pastore, Paulo Dybala and Edinson Cavani turning out for Palermo, but they will continue to search for young players to mould and develop.
One such player appears to be Nice midfielder Vincent Marcel, but the Italian side may be struggling to secure a deal for the Frenchman this summer.
Palermo owner Zamparini has told Mediagol that he has offered €3million (£2.65million) for Marcel, but admitted that he is struggling to compete with Tottenham Hotspur in the race for his signature.
Zamparini admitted that talented teenager Simone Lo Faso could have left the club this summer had Marcel signed, but with Spurs pursuing a deal, Zamparini claims he is facing an uphill task to make Serie B look appealing.
“The future of Lo Faso? He could leave if Marcel had come from Nice, for which we offered three million euro, but Tottenham and other teams want him, it is not easy for us to make the Italian B big,” said Zamparini.

ESPN recently claimed that 20-year-old Marcel – who can play in midfield or out wide – was being pursued by Tottenham, with manager Mauricio Pochettino seeing potential in the youngster.
Marcel made ten first-team appearances for Nice last season and looks to have a bright future ahead of him, meaning few would begrudge him choosing Tottenham over Palermo this summer.
