HITC Sport understands Palace goalkeeper is set for new deal.

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni is in line for a new deal to extend his stay at Selhurst Park, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Speroni has not played this season because of a hand problem he suffered in pre-season which forced him to miss the start of the campaign.

The Argentine is now back to full fitness, but he has been forced to play back-up to Wayne Hennessey with a role on the bench.

The 36-year-old is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up after two high-profile mistakes by Hennessey in the recent defeats to Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Speroni has been No.1 keeper for most of his 11-year stint at Palace and he was handed a testimonial against former Dundee last summer.

Speroni is currently on a rolling contract at Palace, but the club are ready to offer him a 12-month extension to keep him as Alan Pardew feels he still has a big role to play in his plans in the future.

Palace have a plethora of goalkeepers at Selhurst Park with Speroni, Hennessey and Alex McCarthy all battling for the No.1 shirt.
