We rate Crystal Palace’s players’ performances over the 2014-15 campaign to date.
Goalkeepers
Julian Speroni – 7
Another decent season for the Crystal Palace goalkeeper, who is a reliable performer for the club and a fans’ favourite.
Wayne Hennessey – 6
Has been Speroni’s understudy all campaign and failed to usurp him in the starting line-up.
Defenders
Scott Dann – 8
Dann has had a brilliant season and there is a clamour for him to get back into the England squad from Palace supporters. The robust centre-back has claimed two goals and two assists in the league, whilst he also makes nearly a tackle per game.
Brede Hangeland – 6
Has only made 13 league appearances for Palace and has never fully established himself in the team.
Joel Ward – 7.5
The full-back is one of Palace’s key men and this season has only further gone on to confirm that.
Martin Kelly – 7.5
An impressive debut season for Kelly at Selhurst Park. He makes more tackles (3.2) per game than any other defender at Palace.
Damian Delaney – 7
May be ageing now, but he remains important for Palace and has made 23 appearances for the Eagles this term.
Zeki Fryers – 5
Not had much of an impact and has been sent out on loan. One for the future.
Adrian Mariappa – 6
Has been solid enough on the rare occasions he has been called upon.
Papa Soure – 7
Looks to have been a decent January addition from Alan Pardew. Has the pace and energy to get around the field.
Midfielders
Mile Jedinak – 8
Another excellent campaign from the Australian. He is the shield in Palace’s midfield and offers great protection to the defence. Jedinak makes 3.5 tackles per game, but he also offers a lot going forward with five goals to his name and he makes more passes (40) in a match than any other Palace player, on average.
Joe Ledley – 7
Ledley has been one of Palace’s most consistent performers this season and his energy is key to Palace winning the midfield battle.
Barry Bannan – 4
Just cannot seem to make an impact at Palace.
Stuart O’Keefe – 5
Sold to Cardiff City in January, O’Keefe did appear a bit below the quality required at Palace.
Adlene Guedioura – 5
Another player who doesn’t seem to have the ability to take Palace to the next level.
James McArthur – 7
McArthur has had a decent season at Palace, where he has made 24 appearances. The Scot is a well-rounded midfielder and creates a chance for his teammates every two games.
Jordon Mutch – 6.5
Has impressed since arriving at Selhurst Park in January and seems to have a bright future.
Jonny Williams – 5
He may be a talent, but he just can’t seem to make an impression at Premier League level for Palace.
Forwards
Jason Puncheon – 8
Puncheon has had an excellent season and has been one of the club’s best players since Alan Pardew took charge. The former Southampton man is a great source of creativity – forging two chances a game for his teammates, on average – whilst he also has found the back of the net three times.
Yannick Bolasie – 9
Palace’s player of the season, Bolasie has been in brilliant form throughout the campaign and his dribbling ability makes him a real weapon. The Democratic Republic of Congo international takes on his opponent 2.5 times a match and he has racked up six assists.
Shola Ameobi – 5.5
Hasn’t done much since arriving in January, making just four appearances.
Marouane Chamakh – 6.5
Seems a threat in his attacking midfield role at Palace, where he has made an opportunity per game.
Dwight Gayle – 7
Palace joint-top scorer with five goals for the campaign, Gayle has done well, considering a lack of opportunities under Neil Warnock. He is a clinical finisher.
Wilfried Zaha – 7
Has been brilliant since being brought back to Palace in January and is thriving at a place where he feels loved.
Glenn Murray – 7
Has done well since being given a chance by Pardew, scoring four times in nine appearances.
Kevin Doyle – 5
Doyle has played just three times for Palace this season.
Jerome Thomas – 5
Palace’s forgotten man, Thomas will surely have to leave in the summer as he seems to have little future at Selhurst Park.
