Crystal Palace are in desperate need of a new right-back this summer, and Max Aarons represents an opportunity too good for the Eagles to refuse.
The Norwich No.2 – who The Athletic claim was considered by Tottenham in 2020, but José Mourinho felt was too small to sign – has endured a tough campaign with the Canaries at Carrow Road.
Now, with just 12 months remaining on his contract, Crystal Palace have to act.
What’s the story?
Well, the south Londoners must sign a new right-back this summer, as Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne struggle to nail down that role in the side.
Ward and Clyne have made 21 and 19 starts each in the Premier League this season respectively, and with both now well into their thirties, a fresh option is needed.
In our view, Aarons is the perfect candidate for that role.
According to the Mirror, the 23-year-old was actually the subject of a £10m bid from Crystal Palace back in 2019 as the Eagles attempted to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka, only for Norwich to reject the offer.

Now, Aarons is said to be available for that exact figure as Norwich are wary of losing him for nothing in 2024 – according to The Sun.
The England Under-21 international made 45 appearances in the Championship this season, scoring one goal while also providing two assists as the Canaries disappointingly finished 13th.
With Norwich in need of a rebuild and some fresh ideas, it seems like the right time for Aarons to find a new challenge.
Max Aarons would thrive at Crystal Palace
We would be very surprised if Crystal Palace do not express an interest in Aarons this summer.
The Londoner was the subject of interest from Bayern Munich in 2021 – according to Sky Sports – while the Guardian add that Barcelona held talks with Norwich over a deal in 2020.
Aarons would fit in nicely with what Crystal Palace are trying to do in the market, having already signed other exciting young talents who made their name in the Championship such as Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise and Marc Guehi.
Be sure to keep an eye on Aarons over the summer, as we expect him to leave Norwich.
