Crystal Palace and West Ham are both eyeing late moves for Olympique Marseille striker Bamba Dieng, who could now leave the French club this January.
According to RMC Sport, the two Premier League clubs have enquired over the 21-year-old attacker. The Ligue 1 side are now in a position where they need to sell, and Dieng could now leave Marseille for €10m (£8m) this January.
Both Palace and West Ham are keen to bring in a new attacker this window, and Dieng could be the ideal candidate for either club. The youngster is currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon, where the striker scored for the hosts last night.
An attacker with an electric pace and capable of outlandish goals, GFFN have compared Dieng to the likes of former Marseille striker Didier Drogba and Liverpool star Sadio Mane, and these comparisons will no doubt excite Palace and West Ham supporters.
Indeed, an attacker would suit both clubs this window, with West Ham, in particular, in need of a player who can offer competition to Michail Antonio in the striker position for the second half of the season.
With only four goals this campaign, Dieng hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire in recent months, however, a move to the Premier League with Palace or West Ham could be what’s needed to see the real side of the 21-year-old attacker.
West Ham better suited for Bamba Dieng than Palace this January
With Antonio the club’s only natural striker, a move to West Ham could be much better for Dieng than the Eagles, who are stocked in the position and last summer made a big-money signing in Odsonne Edouard.
At 21, Dieng has plenty of time to adapt to Premier League life, and in a squad as exciting and dynamic as West Ham, the youngster could be David Moyes’ latest transfer success story along with the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek.
