Kevin Campbell has advised Mikel Arteta to drop Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after his ‘painful to watch’ performance against Manchester United last night.
Arteta’s side lost 3-2 away at Old Trafford.
Aubameyang had scored key goals in each of his past two trips to the Theatre of Dreams – including the winner in this fixture for Arsenal last season.
But the 32-year-old was anonymous for the Gunners last night, only managing 28 touches in 78 minutes [WhoScored].
The former Borussia Dortmund hitman has only managed four goals in 13 Premier League games for the North Londoners this season.
And for his sky-high standards, that’s a relativeley dismal return.
Campbell has told Highbury Squad on YouTube that it was a 5/10 display by Aubameyang at best and suggested it was time for Arteta to drop him.
He said: “It’s just not happening for him, is it? It might be time for him to come out the team. No matter what he does, what he tries, it’s not happening. It seems like we’re carrying him.
“He can’t stick it away! It’s painful to watch. It’s really painful to watch.”
Is Campbell right?
Well, he’s not wrong.
The stats speak for themselves and if Aubameyang is frozen out of most games these days, and not scoring, then Arteta needs to act.
Listen, it takes a brave man to drop someone of Aubameyang’s class and experience.

But at the moment, he is bringing very little to the table and you have to say, Arsenal have been carrying him as of late.
He looks very out of sorts, evident by the fact he squandered an open goal against Newcastle United last weekend.
Those are chances that he usually takes in his sleep and it’s clear that something isn’t quite right with Aubameyang right now.
