A Southampton player could be next in at Tottenham Hotspur, according to the bookies.
Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino
Paddy Power have released odds on Tottenham Hotspur’s next signing – and there’s a surprise name at number two.
Spurs have been linked with a string of players ahead of the summer transfer window, with Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and Everton’s Ross Barkley perhaps the most prominent.
Names like Luke Shaw (Manchester United), Michael Keane (Burnley) and Ben Gibson (Middlesbrough) have also surfaced in recent weeks, although it is Zaha, Barkley and another, yet to be linked player who occupy the shortest odds.
Zaha is 11/2 to become the next White Hart Lane arrival, with Barkley and Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand both 9/1.
Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand
Bertrand’s presence is somewhat surprising given Tottenham’s apparent lack of need for another left-back, certainly not of the England international’s calibre.
However, it is possible there could be interest in the 27-year-old should either of Danny Rose or Ben Davies depart – although Rose is considered a key player by head coach Mauricio Pochettino, while Davies signed a new four-year contract in March.

Bertrand signed for Pochettino’s former club Southampton in July 2014 as a replacement for Shaw, shortly after the Argentine’s appointment by Spurs.
