Pablo Zabaleta says Tottenham’s Harry Kane is better than Man City star

Kane has continued his Tottenham form for England at this summer’s World Cup.

BBC Sport’s World Cup pundit Pablo Zabaleta has told Radio 5 Live that he believes Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane is currently better than Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero.

Kane, 24, has hit the ground running in Russia, scoring five goals in just two games for England after a brace in The Three Lions’ 2-1 win over Tunisia and a hat-trick against Panama on Sunday.

He currently tops the goalscoring charts at the World Cup, ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku who are both on four goals, with Kane and Lukaku set to do battle on Thursday.

Zabaleta was asked by Robbie Savage on his World Cup breakfast show on Monday morning if he felt that Kane was currently better than Aguero, and he took his time before stating that he believes the Spurs star is better.

“This guy has been really amazing,” Zabaleta said. “He always finishes at the right moment, right time. He’s so composed, and he’s the complete striker because he’s good on the left, good on the right, strong in the air and he’s a really nice lad.

“I like it when these young players want to improve. He goes into the game thinking ‘I want to score a goal’. He’s so hungry, I would say Harry Kane, in this moment, is for me the best player.”

Zabaleta played with Aguero at Manchester City and for the national side Argentina, who are currently struggling after a draw against Iceland and a loss to Croatia. They must beat Nigeria if they are to stand any chance of qualifying.

Aguero has managed to score Argentina’s only goal at the World Cup so far, and Jorge Sampaoli will need his first-choice centre-forward to be firing on all cylinders when it comes to facing Nigeria.

The former Atletico Madrid striker, who earns £220,000 a week (Daily Mail) scored 30 goals in 39 games last season, while Kane managed 41 goals in 48 games.
