West Ham United defender Pablo Zabaleta has spoken highly of his teammate Grady Diangana to The Sun.

Diangana has been given the chance by West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini in the wake of the injury suffered by Andriy Yarmolenko.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has taken the chance and has bee quite impressive for the Hammers.

West Ham right-back Zabaleta – who earns £75,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – has raved about Diangana.

Zabaleta told The Sun about Diangana: “He is looking very dangerous, especially in a one-on-one situation. He doesn’t get scared. He always shows personality, to ask for the ball, to take people on.

“With the injury of Andriy Yarmolenko, the manager gave him a chance and he took it. He’s showing he wants to keep his place in the starting XI.”

Gradual progression

Diangana is doing well at the moment, but it must be remembered that the attacking midfielder is only 20 years of age.

The youngster should not be put under undue pressure, as he has made only a handful of appearances for the West Ham first team.

The 20-year-old is far from the finished article, and is still developing and progressing as a footballer.

West Ham are 13th in the Premier League table at the moment with 11 points from as many matches, just five points above the relegation zone.
