Pablo Hernandez will be hoping to get promoted to the Premier League with Leeds United this season

Pablo Hernandez has been a shining light for Leeds United this season as they sit top of the Championship table hoping for a return to the Premier League.

The 33-year-old has provided 10 assists and scored seven goals in Marcelo Bielsa’s high-pressing team, playing both on the right-hand side and through the middle for the Argentinian coach.

Hernandez has played in the top tier of English football before when he represented Swansea City between 2012-14 before playing for Qatari club Al-Arabi prior to his switch to Elland Road.

As the Spanish magician enters his mid-30’s there is no doubt that Leeds’ star man is coming to a stage where this could be his last chance to play in the Premier League again.

The versatile attacker will be hoping to achieve that with his current club, but should he consider making a move to a top-flight club in the summer if Leeds fail in their promotion bid?

Despite suffering back-to-back defeats, Bielsa’s side still hold a two-point lead over second-placed Norwich City and a further four-point lead over third-placed West Brom in the table.

Losing Hernandez during the January transfer window would be a big no-no for the Yorkshire club, but a failure to finish in the top six or earn promotion would only decrease Hernandez’s chances of playing in the Premier League.

Hernandez’s ability to run with the ball and pick out a killer pass is still proof that he can play at the highest level, Leeds supporters will be hoping he can do it in their colours next season.
