Pablo Hernandez is an important player for Leeds United.

Leeds United star Pablo Hernandez has told The Yorkshire Evening Post that the number 10 role is his best position.

The 32-year-old Spaniard is a versatile footballer who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger.

The Spaniard played as a number 10 last season, but Samuel Saiz’s form and heroics this campaign is keeping him out.

The former Valencia and Swansea City star has scored two goals and provided two assists in 14 Championship starts for Leeds so far this season.

Hernandez has said that his favourite position is at number 10, but he has stated that he is happy to play as a winger.

“Last year I was playing number 10 always and this year Samu plays in this position,” Hernandez told The Yorkshire Evening Post. “I think for me the best position is number 10 but I’m very happy as a winger.

“When I was young in Valencia I played in this position. The manager speaks to us all and we have free mobility. We can change position during the game. The feeling is good.”

Given the quality of Saiz and his current form, it would make no sense for head coach Thomas Christiansen to change the 26-year-old’s role.

Saiz, who can also operate as a forward, has been arguably Leeds’s best player so far this season, and he should are retained in the number 10 role for the foreseeable future.
