Pablo Hernandez believes Leeds United are ready for promotion push this season.
Pablo Hernandez has said that Leeds United are “more ready” this term to secure a return to the Premier League.
Leeds United were relegated from the Premier League during the 2003-04 season, and they haven’t returned to the top flight ever since.
Last season, the Whites were in the mix for a play-off berth under Garry Monk, but they ran out of steam towards the end of the season.
Hernandez, who played in the Premier League before with Swansea City, has said that Leeds are on the “right line” to secure a return to the top flight.
Leeds have gone through a massive rebuilding project under new manager Thomas Christiansen, and find themselves at the top of the Championship table after nine games.
They have made a bright start to the 2017/18 Championship campaign, and it remains to be seen whether they can keep the momentum going throughout the season.
Hernandez, who scored in the 68th minute against Ipswich Town, has said that the support of Leeds fans are crucial for their challenge to get into the Premier League.
Leeds United fans will agree to Hernandez’s comments, and based on what we have seen so far, it looks like the Whites are better equipped this time around for the promotion push.
“Last season everyone knows we fought all the way to stay in the play-offs, and at the last moment we lost that position,” said Hernandez, as quoted by The Mirror (printed edition; September 25th – page 16).
“It’s a new season and so many things have changed in the club. We’re on the right line. I think we’re more ready now.
“The atmosphere is great with the players, the staff and the fans. This is very important for our challenge to get to the Premier League.”
