Pablo Hernandez is hoping that Leeds United’s Kemar Roofe isn’t seriously injured.
Roofe took a knock in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers and was photographed wearing a protective boot on Sunday.
The 26-year-old was Leeds’ top goalscorer last season after netting 15 Championship times.
And with the Whites’ curtain-raiser away at Bristol City just under two weeks away, Hernandez has told Leeds Live that Marcelo Bielsa’s side can ill afford an injury to their red-hot hitman.
He said: “I hope it’s not a serious injury because we need him and we hope that he’s ready for next week.”
United’s final pre-season friendly comes away to Cagliari next week and injured or not, it’s probably best if Roofe sits it out.
There is no prognosis on the former Oxford United star’s condition but with the Championship season kicking off again a week after their trip to Italy, it’s a senseless risk for Bielsa to field him in a friendly.
